How do I create an aquarium? What kind of water should I use?

Someone gave me an aquarium. I would like to use, but I know nothing about it. Can anyone help?

The first thing we do is solve the problem. You do not want chemicals products including cleaning chemicals to mix with water in your tank. Simply use a sponge under running water. If you notice any unusual symptoms or odor coming from there, then use cleaning substances. Avoid using something like Windex when it contains ammonia. If you try a dry cycle as this could be good, but it is better to use only water clear. Now it must decide between a saltwater or freshwater setting. I have no experience to guide you in a Salt Water created I will therefore recommend freshwater on this basis. You want to get a gravel substrate, are sold in several shops for pets, a heating unit sufficient suffecient gallons to cover that in this case 55, the proper filtration. Chance of filtration which is almost without end user, so I'm going to a limited budget premises here. Sometimes I use the AquaClear filters. I think the sound of leaking components, and easy to use and replace if necessary. You may receive one of many tips on exactly what to use, so you just use, just make sure you have a turnover rate well. What it means be the water tower about 165 gallons or more per hour. About three times the volume of water in the tank. The lighting and cover vary Give what you want to settle. Examination of stocks will be the last step and a lot of opportunities there. Once the filter in your heater lighting gravel decorations ect everything in place, fill the tank a little less capacity and add a dechloriator product. AquaSafe I use it are many products you can use, but the goal here is to treat water to remove cholorine and chloramines, chemicals added to water to be safe for humans, but not good for fish. After the treated water, let your tank sit for 24-48 hours. Get a set of test kits. Try to include ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH. Check your pH. If the pH is higher then shows 8.2 or less to 6.6, then you should adjust now before you get fish. Leveling the pH to 7.0, if desired, where do I prepare the fish that inhabit the aquarium. Changes in pH can only cause the damage that the cycle may be that I will speak briefly. Now is the time it was decided fish used for cycling to get them. I mean that the cycle is called the nitrogen cycle, which takes place in your tank right away if it is a source of ammonia is added. It can really go by what you explain what will happen now. Fish you have to use yet are zebra Zebrafish, guppies, mollies or Plattier. At 55 gallons, about 3-4 to one of these should be sufficient. Once the fish are added, the ammonia begins to accumulate in the water. This is due to breathing fish, fish waste, uneaten food and fish and plants decomposition, if you have rotting ammonia plants. Ammonia is highly toxic to fish. After a few days to begin testing the water to measure the amount of ammonia in water. To maintain your levels of ammonia or rather help maintain optimum fish food once a day. Do not worry, it will be fine and can go days without eating if necessary. Feed them what she eats it all in two minutes. Excess food is the main cause of excess ammonia. When you check your level, you should begin to see detectable in a few days, if not soon. Monitor this. Exposure to ammonia will kill fish at the end. PH and temperature factors of play, but if it remains above that have already discussed. Ammonia can damage functions Gill and if the fish starts to suffer exposure to it, you know about the surface water seems to have trouble breathing. If you see this and begin to see the ammonia levels exceed 1.0 ppm (parts per million) to a water change small. Approximately 10-20% of the total volume of water. Try not to do more of that. What happens is this. Once the presence of ammonia, water, bacteria Nitrosommas call begins to form. Do not worry, this is normal and necessary for the final population of fish you want keep. Nitrosommas oxidize ammonia to nitrite to a compound call. The bacteria usually takes about 24 hours to double in size, so be patient with that. Most of the time, you should start seeing a decrease in ammonia water in about 10-14 days, but this can vary total fish in water, food and many other things. This is only a general guide. If you have to do a water change, try not to more than 10-20%, since ammonia is a source of fuel for Nitrosommas growing. Now, once you see ammonia begins to fall in action, you should see readings on nitrite in water. Again other bacteria will begin to develop, in addition to the other. They are Nitrobaciters appeal and are oxidized nitrite to nitrate, a compound known in comparison with the other two, is much less harmful to fish and maintained by water changes weekly. Nitrites are however still toxic to fish. The suffering of fish exposure to nitrite has been damaged gills, redness possible there, and become slow and does not eat much. This is partly due to nitrite binding to blood cells and block the transfer of oxygen experience similar to what smokers. If you see the level of nitrite starting to go above 1.0 ppm, conduct a water change, but Note again the need Nitrobaciters nitrite grow a stable colony. Approximately 14-21 days, the levels of nitrite, the less they have also begun to fall. You should begin to see the values in the nitrate. Nitrate mentioned above is less lethal to fish after the other two. If you see readings of nitrate going from 40 ppm or more, do your water changes. At this stage of its cycle is almost complete. In addition, if you are Reading 0 ammonia, nitrites 0 and nitrate obtain readings only. At this time, you keep your tank through conducting regular water changes. Weekly is generally good, but depending on the fish population is it can do so more often. However, a Once your cycle is finished, then we begin the storage tank with less hardy fish that want to keep. When you do not intend to buy all the fish want and put them in the tank. This will make your Spike tank in ammonia and nitrite along with fish and expose sensitive to toxic chemicals. Instead of introducing a fish pair per week for bacteria is to oxidize the compounds have no problems and cause an increase in compounds. I know this is long and excessive, but most people I have seen a new tank are not aware of this process is done, and be honest I did not until last year. I learned some lessons the hard way and just want to pass on what I know to help you. If you have any questions, if Please write me. JV
