Aquarium Cloudy? Help? New 63 Gallon cartridge filter?
Anyone .. HELP I just bought a new 63 Gallon Aqua-Vim Lake View Aquarium. I installed with my decor, Series 60 Whisper Air Pump, and a new external filter water is from 3 cube. I also added a dechloriantor water. Night I woke to find my water in the aquarium completely cloudy and clear. I checked the connections on filter cartridge, which are very good, I also checked to see if I stop the pump, everything is there. I do not know what to do? Help? Any "friends" advice is appreciated. Obviously, I am a rookie in a learning stage. Thank you .. JP
That's quite a tank. Consider two possibilities: for me: 1) Did you add gravel or carbon in the tank (and rinse first remove dust / May of land that have been incurred)? If this is your case, filters will remove the dust with time. Or, you can disable Equiment omnipotence of the tank, let the dust settles, using a Vacuum Cleaner to remove dust from the gravel. 2) Add the fish? This will be the beginning of the cycling process, then. This is a population of bacteria beneficial is that they reproduce rapidly. Bacteria become metabolic waste fish, ammonia and nitrite Bith which can be toxic to fish – nitrate, which is safe if the concentration is below 40 ppm (not to mention better!). This will take several weeks several months to resolve. Be patient – your drive will be to empty the tank and clean, but will only prolong the process. Having a Water Test kit and test for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. When ammonia and nitrites = 0 and nitrates are the only reading, the reservoir is the supply enough of the bacteria. Do not add more fish to get there. Monitor levels of the above, as well as partial water changes of about 25% 1-2 times per week, as soon as you notice increased levels. You can speed up a little using a refrigerated (not rays stores) liquid supplement containing denitrifying bacteria to "seed" the tank.
