How do I get the gas in an old Dodge Spirit 1990? A siphon does not work.?

I recently inherited a 1990 Dodge Spirit LE parent. I plan to clean the car and use it as a work vehicle so you can park my truck. I had the car sent to Montana, which has sat for about 3 years. I do not want to start the car with gas in the same age. I tried a siphon, but you can not get the pipe all the way to the gas tank real. Something is blocking me to do. What are my options? As I said, I guess 3 years old gas is not good and did not want to run the engine. I have more than 1 / 2 of a tank that I must get rid him. Tell me what you think. Thank you.

Remove the tank and drain it.
